Kelly Stamy

As the lead attorney for construction and real estate matters at Melancon Legal, Kelly brings nearly a decade of specialized experience advocating for contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and property owners. Her practice focuses on finding practical solutions to complex construction disputes while protecting our clients’ interests at every stage of their projects.

Throughout her career, she’s developed particular expertise in construction defect cases, contract negotiations, mechanic’s liens, and performance and payment bond matters. As a certified mediator, she understands the value of both aggressive litigation when necessary and strategic alternative dispute resolution when appropriate. This balanced approach allows her to tailor solutions that best serve each client’s unique needs.

Kelly’s experience includes successfully representing clients across the construction industry spectrum – from general contractors managing multiple subcontractor disputes to homeowners facing construction defect issues. She’s developed a reputation for effectively handling complex matters such as multi-property lien disputes, contract terminations, and intricate payment disputes while maintaining focus on practical, business-oriented solutions.

Active in the construction law community, she maintains memberships in the Construction Law Sections of both the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association, as well as the American Subcontractors Association’s Houston Chapter. She regularly shares her expertise through speaking engagements and publications on construction law topics, including worker safety, contract terms, and industry best practices.

As a life-long Houstonian, Kelly is still constantly exploring the city and loves checking out new restaurants. She has recently picked up running and enjoys exploring the city’s diverse neighborhoods and parks on foot. If the weather is nice, you’ll find her outside with her massive German Shepherd, Captain, either walking, training, or soaking up the sun on a patio somewhere.
